Hi, I'm Zack. I'm a senior at UW studying electrical and computer engineering, and MatchMark started because parents who knew me kept asking about tutoring, college applications, and all the questions that come with figuring out whether a school is right for their kid. What is the major actually like. Are the dorms any good. Is my kid on track. I had been through it, so I was the person they asked, and after a while there were more people asking than I could sit down with myself.
So I built a place where families can find current UW students directly, instead of paying a company that has never set foot on campus. Every mentor here is someone who is living it right now, and they know the things that never make it onto a website.
I run all of this myself. There is no algorithm and no matching team. When a family reaches out, I call both sides personally before anyone is introduced, because I would want the same care if it were my family.
